I want to apologize for the problems with the server. I've reinstalled the CMS software and reset the database. All should be good for now. I have disabled SEF urls so you might have to update your links to content on the site. I would encourage all instructors and students who use this site to save a hard copy of all the lectures. After this quarter, I will be moving to a different CMS, one that is intended for distance learning and will slowly be migrating this site. To that end, I hope all the instructors have made backups of their lectures so that when I do make the change, it will be a simple matter of cutting and pasting. Again, I'm sorry if the problems with the site have inconvenienced you. I'm hoping that they're all gone now. Thanks for your patience, Sheff

I'm teaching character design this fall quarter and it's been a lot of fun! I've been trying to expose my students to great artist and books to add to their library as well as expanding their visual vocabulary.
This has been around for a while, but it’s still a great link. In October 2002 California State Polytechnic University Pomona filmed a presentation by Disney character design supervisor Chen Yi Chang (Batman, Mulan, Tarzan). For over two hours Chang gives a multimedia discusssion covering the basics of good character design and technique. Then he reviewed student’s work for another hour. There’s some really good stuff here, mostly a refresher on the basics but still very inspiring!
Here's the video link.
Also a link to his interview
Also here's some great blogs and websites to visit and compare your work.

Last month I bought a PS3 after playing Vitua Fighter 5 demo in Best Buy.
I also picked up this title at Fry's since it was cheaper there. One of my favorite things is online multiplayer, which is sadly lacking from the PS3 version of this game. The low and behold it's announced that it's coming to Xbox 360 WITH ONLINE MULTIPLAYER!
What the hell!
I had a friend going through a divorce who lent me his 360 for a weekend while he moved to California. Although I liked the HD-DVD player, it sounded like a damn vacuum cleaner under setup. I already have a media connection box that came with my plasma which has a fan that is annoyingly loud. It was based on this loudness, coupled with the fact that I'm not a huge console gamer guy that led me to the decision to buy the PS3.
I'm more interested in hi-def movies. Then Transformers comes out ONLY on HD-DVD. So I have no desire to buy the $25 doller standard def version, I've avoided it all together. Even Michael Bay is pissed that Transformers isn't selling well. Maybe it's because it's the wrong format, priced way too high for the standard def version and word of mouth is that the special features suck.
So one kick in the nuts from Virtua Fighter for not having multiplayer(fake ai bots instead) and a second one for not having movies that I want to see.
One of the contributing factors to buying the PS3 was the rebate for 5 free Blu-Ray movies. Little did I know that I could only pick from 5 different movies in 5 different categories, which include the John Travolta hits Battlefield Earth and Wild Hogs. I don't know about you, but I'd rather shove a glass rod in my eye than watch John Travolta in anything other than Pulp Fiction. Giving me those crap movies for free isn't going to make me use for anything other than a coaster. And by the way, Pulp Fiction was great because of Tarantino, not Travolta.
